About us

CWM Horticultural Services has been in business for 38 years. Chris' passion for landscape started as a teenager when his first job was working at Tony's Nursery in Larchmont and worked there while putting himself through college.  He started his business in 1982 and continues to grow and build his boutique landscaping firm.

Chris is a graduate from Alfred University with an A.A.S. degree in Ornamental Horticulture and continues his education through the Cornell University Extension Program staying on top of current landscape trends, harmful insects, and environmental factors effecting our outdoor living spaces. He is also a member of the NYS Nursery and Turf Professionals Association, NYS Certified Arborists Association, and a NYS Certified Pesticide Applicator.

Our firm is equipped to handle all of your outdoor needs not limited to property management, landscape design and installation, masonry work, irrigation system installation and maintenance, drainage work, and snow removal.

Our crew has been together for over 20 years and over that time we have developed relationships with our longtime customers. We have helped them transform and maintain their properties into spaces that they can enjoy with friends and family.

What Clients Are Saying

"We've been working with Chris and his team for just over a year and I can't say enough great things about these guys. We bought a house with serious maintenance issues last year and Chris has done an unbelievable amount of work for us here.  Projects over the past 16 months have included: installation of two drywells, re-grading and planting (grass) of a side yard, clearing at least 1500 square feet of overgrown brush and replanting gardens in its place, cutting a large cement slab to create a garden space for the installation of a large cherry tree, re-pointing of a 100+ year old stone wall and our stone foundation, installation of an upgraded sprinkler system and rain sensor, installation of LED landscape lighting, Installation of at least 100 feet of privacy fence which he also primed and painted by hand, moving mature azalea bushes and leyland hedges around with no issues (all survived), and most recently the installation of a large wooden arbor in our front yard with a new stone pathway under it. CWM also handles our weekly lawn maintenance and snow removal. There is no project too big or too small for these guys, in my experience. Their responsiveness is fantastic. Chris also has a seemingly unending knowledge of construction techniques, garden design (plant health, longevity, blooming cycle and growing trends), insects, soil health and general construction. He also grew up locally and currently lives locally so he understands and follows local regulations, has wonderful relationships with his local suppliers and can source materials and special plants on a moment's notice. It's gotten to the point that when I need any type of exterior or landscape work done on the house, I check with Chris first to see if CWM can do it. If they can't, I typically use Chris's referrals. Chris stands behind everything he does, personally shows up for each job and always collaborates with us to get the best outcome - he has also talked me out of several projects that wouldn't have been in our best interests, including most recently suggesting we not add fertilizer to some shrubs I had asked about because of the season and also the overall health of the plants. Chris is honest, his teams are professional and hard-working, and his construction projects (sprinklers, fences, drywells, masonry, lighting, etc.) were done to the highest standard. It's also nice to have a direct relationship with the owner (Chris) on every project, which shows how personally vested he is in the successful outcome of each project. I recommend CWM to anyone who asks me about lawn care, I sincerely think they are the best around."
